Music legend spotted souvenir shopping in Sydney

Music icon Debbie Harry has been spotted souvenir shopping in Sydney.

The Blondie frontwoman, 78, was in full tourist mode as she browsed among a sea of keyrings with kangaroos on them and stuffed toy koalas.

The rocker kept things casual in a cap, T-shirt, and leggings. She wore sketchers and oversized sunglasses as she made her way around Sydney.

Usually, celebrities in town are spotted at fancy restaurants or hanging out at Bondi Beach, but Harry took a much more relatable approach.

She might be rock and roll, but who can resist a souvenir shop? Going on holiday means purchasing things you’ll never use again once, like a key ring with a fluffy kangaroo on it.

Harry, known for her hits like I Want That Man and Glass of Hearts, is Down Under because she is touring with her band Blondie on the Pandemonium Tour alongside several rock bands including Alice Cooper, Placebo, Deep Purple, and even Australia’s Wolfmother.

Ahead of the tour, she appeared on The Today Show to discuss her excitement about coming to Australia.

“We are looking forward to getting back home to Australia,” she gushed.

Harry also said that while touring, she always plays “major songs” because she knows that is what people want to hear, but she also “weaves” in her new material.

The rocker had just been touring Europe recently, and she’s found that the audiences are “superb.”

Harry, who is in her seventies, admitted that she doesn’t think touring at her age is that impressive.

“I don’t think I do enough. I do plenty, I sort of feel like, wow, I could be doing so much more,” she explained.

In February, she told The Sydney Morning Herald that she still felt “lucky” to have had such a career in rock and roll. After all, Blondie was formed in the seventies and is still touring together decades later.

“It makes me feel a little bit of everything, to be honest. It’s wonderful we continue to get a great reception as a band, that the music is still meaningful to everyone and their lives. It is the most rewarding part of Blondie for me. I know I am very lucky to still be able to do what I do.”

When Harry’s not touring she resides in New York City and New Jersey and has two dogs.
