Andy Lee and Rebecca Harding are falling into a classic couple trope

Comedian Andy Lee and Rebecca Harding only just got engaged, but already seem to be falling into the classic couple trap of dressing the same.

The couple was spotted overseeing renovations at their Hawthorn Mansion, which Lee bought for $8 million in 2021; even though it had no power or plumbing.

The couple was wearing identical navy blue hoodies – merch from the building company they’re using – and jeans as they strolled around the construction zone chatting with workers.

The comedian managed to set himself apart from his fiance by wearing a cap, and Harding styled her look with a nice pair of boots, but the couple matched up a storm.

It was cute, it was cringe, it was naff, it was daggy, it was normal! It was peak long-term couple behaviour.

It is relatable to dress similarly in a relationship. This can happen to anyone, yes, even very cool people.

One minute, you’re dating and have your own style; the next, you’re getting coffee in matching Birkenstocks and puffer jackets.

Celebrities might have sparkling lives and own mansions in expensive suburbs, but they fall into the daggy couple tropes just like the rest of us do.

This isn’t the first time the couple has matched, either.

They attended a basketball game earlier this year, and both wore baggy jeans and white sneakers.

Even when they got engaged the pair were both wearing white shirts.

Lee, 42, and Harding, 33, announced their engagement earlier this month after dating for more than ten years and renovating a property together.

The pair met back when Harding was a waitress and Lee was already a successful radio host.

Now, the couple, who have a nine-year age gap, are at different points in their lives. Lee has traded in the radio world for podcasting, and Harding owns the Aussie razor and body care brand Lulibody.

Lee revealed details of the proposal on his podcast with his co-host and comedy buddy Hamish Blake.

“People keep saying we’ve rushed into this, but we don’t care what people say,” Lee joked on Instagram to his 400,000 followers.

Lee waited six minutes into the podcast before saying: “I asked Bec to marry me on Sunday.”

Blake immediately made a joke about the fact it took him a decade to get down on one knee.

“Is it a bit quick?” he joked.

“We really should’ve given in another couple of years.”

Blake then offered his sincerest congratulations and said he and his wife, Zoe Foster Blake, were thrilled by the news and had been “crying” with joy.

Lee said that the mansion the couple have been renovating played a role in the proposal.

Standing in front of the house’s marble fireplace with Harding on the weekend, he pretended he could see something inside; then pulled out a napkin.

“When I was down there, I stayed on one knee and I gave her another napkin — because when I first met her at the cafe, I wrote on a napkin my details,” he said.
