Key Takeaways
-
Dragon Age fans want more conflict between their allies.
-
Dragon Age 2 has been brought up as an example of a game that did this well, with our faction often arguing with each other.
-
Everyone in The Veilguard seems to be more cohesive, with some ideological disagreements among party members.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is going down well with fans, but there's one complaint we've seen pop up a lot online: the allies are also… well. In fact, the overall dynamic is too comfortable for some, as there doesn't seem to be much conflict within the titular Veilguard.
It's enough to remind fans of the previous game's allies, and actually, Rightoften disagreed. In particular, the Dragon Age 2 lot is praised for all the chaos, because most of them went to the disaster that barely passed five minutes without fighting.
Dragon Age fans feel bad when allies are chaotic and evil
While fans praise Dragon Age 2's allies for their conflict, the absence of this in The Veilguard is inevitable.
“This represents Veilguard's biggest problem: everyone is nice and kind and friendly and there are no major ideological conflicts or conflicts,” said Reddit user infiniteglass00. “The best friend/character relationships and arcs in a DA game start with conflict and conflict and then you get to experience growth. And sometimes they still don't match, but working together. DA2 and DAI have a lot of it.”
Others agree that this is a problem with their game so far. “I'm always flirting with Harding and he's always doing me a favor,” Beachpellini said. “The rivalry/friendship system was presented as one of the best aspects of DA2, I'm sad they didn't use it anymore.”
Sgrockr agrees, “Don't you? Everyone grows up in Veilguard with their emotional responsibility. I need conflict and carelessness sometimes.”
