The Veilguard – A hidden mechanic you should know about

Since then Dragon Age: The Veilguard Released, players have wondered about the unwritten rules of the game, such as secret combat mechanics, trading, how to increase the main player's statistics, and more. What the game doesn't tell you is that every crack can contain gold or valuable items (which are sold for gold and reputation at the Faction Vendor), which means infinite gold.

As mentioned before, selling valuables will give the player gold and fame of their choice. They just need to go to the third-party seller, sell all the valuables and collect that reputation.

The game doesn't warn players about this, so if they see their popularity increase but the store doesn't offer new items, it's because they forgot to update it.

Another “hidden mechanic” players may notice from a distance during the adventure that the item improves its quality when buying another copy from the seller. It is similar to some TCG games, where having two copies of the same card makes it more powerful.

In Dragon Age: The VeilguardEach item is valuable, and players should get two copies of the same item whenever they can. This will improve their paper quickly. They work the same way when picking up items from chests and enemy drops, so keep an eye on the loot to upgrade them all. This also applies to companion devices.

9 Grocers sell Perma Boost items

From exotic fruits to premium cheeses and wines, the markets of Tevinter and Antivan are full of opportunities for every gourmet to fill their bellies. But, is this “flair” mechanism without a purpose? In fact, some vendors have an item (sometimes two) that provides a permanent boost to Rook's stats.

These are presented as valuable items to purchase, but if players read carefully, they will see things like: “increase health when purchased.” Pay attention to the shopping areas, and spend some time in the markets of Treviso and Minrathous.

8 Lore Items improve your crafting skills and improve equipment

Take every page, they're worth their weight in gold

In addition to the obvious additional flavor of the story, the lore books and scrolls spread out in a breaded pattern during the adventure provide two important resources. The most obvious one is extra EXP, so Rook can level up faster.

But it will also grant something called “Guardian Power”, which is popular with Lighthouse/Crossroads guardians (and riders, and crafters). Collecting all the scrolls will collect fame from this vendor located in the Lighthouse courtyard in the Guardian's Workshop. Use fame, gold and other resources to improve this bench and improve your goods there.

7 Minimap has a treasure detector

Although it is simple, it is a very useful resource. Be careful when searching, as there may be faint sounds (voices or chimes) indicating nearby Treasures or statues. Look for the blinking icon below the minimap, in the upper right corner of the screen.

Then open the map and follow it down to the origin. In this way, the player can be sure to collect all the valuable loot available in all the maps, improving the strength of the weapons and their power.

6 You can mark the treasure on the map to identify its location

Following the entry above, players can “fix” treasures they missed in the map window. Open the map, select the nearby treasure (or other POI), and click to mark it.

When this is done, the game will automatically track and show the location of the treasure chest, allowing the player to identify the estimated location, and find an entry point to get the best hidden loot in the game. It won't take too much time, and it's a nice feature.

2 Used gold mats for sale

If the player does not have enough gold, the game offers a perfect solution for this. As players explore the many shops and vendors in each town, they may notice some of them offering “gold coins” in their inventory.

This is a way for players to sell their materials (ores, crystals, wood, cloth), in exchange for some coins. Mats are sold in bundles of 10, and most of the time return 60 Gold per bundle. So, this is a great way to earn extra coins when needed.

1 The advantage of the battle is more important than the game

It's not just mindless button-mashing

Combat Advantage is an added feature Dragon Age: The Veilguardand it can be a little confusing at times. Certain abilities, items, and even potions can trigger something called an Advantage, which is a real combat advantage.

There's a lot of variety in them, and at lower levels they don't add much to the overall combat mechanics. But, from the third level (Adventurer) onwards, these buffs become critical to defeating certain enemies. Players should make sure they know their advantages in combat, and what they do.
