When it comes to weapons, the original Oblivion practically set the blueprint for modern RPGs, and Oblivion Remastered does a great job of reminding us why. Very few games that followed this masterpiece were able to replicate the feeling of locating a powerful weapon after scouring some chance-encountered points of interest. Oblivion Remastered doesn’t need to add anything to the original, as the sheer volume of weapons is incredible, even by today’s standards.

Oblivion Remastered: Best Spellsword Build
The Spellsword offers the best of both worlds for players torn between warrior and mage in Oblivion Remastered.
With this list, we’ll look at the best weapons Oblivion Remastered has to offer. In some ways, there are far too many to put onto one list, especially if you split the game into segments like ‘early-game’ and ‘end-game.’ With this in mind, we’re going to include weapons that can be collected early or later in the game. We’ll make the distinction in the description. Overall, this list will only include the very best weapons in Oblivion Remastered.
In Oblivion Remastered, a weapon’s stats will scale depending on when you acquire it. Because of this, we will provide the base Level 1 stats for each weapon we can. Where the information is not available, we will provide the weapon’s stats at the level it was acquired. You can then assume that every level after 1 (or the level of acquisition) will slightly increase each stat accordingly.

Technically, the Sword of the Crusader is a great weapon for any point in the game, but there are certainly other swords that outclass it once you reach a certain point in the story. Because of this, we think the best time to acquire it is early in the game. As part of the Knights of the Nine DLC Set, this sword is great for players looking to play on the right side of the law. However, this also presents the weapon’s biggest limitation: gaining any Infamy points makes this weapon unusable. Because of this, it is advisable to either use the weapon while completing the Fighter’s Guild questline, and other early white-hat endeavors, or wait until after you’ve completed missions like the Dark Brotherhood questline before acquiring and using the weapon.
- How to Get: There are a series of missions in the Knights of the Nine DLC that tasks the player with finding all Crusader’s Relics in Oblivion Remastered. The Sword of the Crusader is the final relic you will collect, and is dropped by the wraith of Sir Berich Vindrel.

The Honorblade of Chorrol is one of the best weapons for the early-game for multiple reasons. The most obvious is the fact that it is weightless. This is incredibly helpful early-on when you are constantly trying to manage the items you are carrying. The second reason is the fact that it is non-magical. This sounds counter-intuitive, but early players will quickly find that magic weapons can often be more hindrance than help. The Honorblade of Chorrol requires no soul gems for replenishing charges. It is simply an extremely powerful weapon that weighs nothing.
- How to Get: To get the Honorblade of Chorrol in Oblivion Remastered, you’ll need to complete the trilogy of quests surrounding the Jemane family. In the final quest, “Sins of the Father,” you’ll find the sword on the dead body of the Redguard Valley Ogre Chieftain.

After getting a taste of the Akavari Katana in the tutorial, players will likely wonder where they can get their hands on another. Luckily, they won’t have to wait long after completing the tutorial to get their hands on an even better version of the weapon. The Sunderblade also serves as a reminder that not every powerful weapon is stuck at the end of a crazy underground maze. Don’t be put off by the Akavari Sunderblade’s seemingly low damage output. The enchantments allow it to absolutely melt through armor, as well as destroy an enemy’s weapon. Give it a try for something a bit different.
- How to Get: The Akavari Sunderblade can be purchased from the Three Brothers Trade Goods store in the Imperial City Market District. Purchase price, at the Easy haggle level, is 5,042 Gold.

Apotheosis is one of the best weapons for players who play as mages. While it is available to purchase very early in the game, players will not get the full power of this weapon until much later, so it is advised to wait until you are over level 20. The incredible power of this weapon is found in its enchantment, which deals Fire, Frost, and Shock damage on targets.
- How to Get: Apotheosis can be purchased from Rindir’s Staffs in the Imperial City Market District. Purchase price when we visited was 5,825 Gold.

Bands of Kwang Lao are often cited as one of the best weapons in Oblivion Remastered, despite the fact that they are not a weapon at all. However, they do have the effect of turning your fists into a viable weapon, so their inclusion here feels warranted. While they may be seen as more of a novelty item by some players, there are those that enjoy relying on what the Nine gave them.
- How to Get: Loot from the chest near Branwin & Saliith, two characters fighting on the side of the Arena in the Imperial City Arena district. The lock is Very Hard, but can be picked, even at Level 1. You can also kill or pickpocket the key from the fighters.

Hatreds Soul is the bow that even those of us that aren’t fond of bows go out of their way to acquire. You must bow down to this bow, as it can turn any close-range klutz into a long-range master. This weapon can be tough to get, and is by far the most powerful at higher levels, so it is worth waiting until later in the game to acquire it. What makes this bow so special is that it is able to drain the speed of enemies that would otherwise begin to charge you, making them viable targets for much longer. This effect is greatly enhanced at higher levels. You can also collect the Hatreds Heart mace in the Chorrol Oblivion Gate, where this weapon is found.
- How to Get: Found in the Sunken Tower, part of the Fume Vaults section within the Chorrol Oblivion gate.

Chillrend is an incredibly popular magical shortsword that is essentially a glass shortsword variant. Chillrend is one of those weapons that people just love, and despite the fact that there are better weapons out there, you cannot downplay the nostalgia factor when it comes to certain weapons. That is not to say that Chillrend is not powerful. Having a weapon that applies weakness to the same type of damage that it applies is great, and frost damage in particular is one of the best overall damage types in Oblivion Remastered. Chillrend is one of the most recognizable weapons in the Elder Scrolls universe, and as such will continue to be popular.
- How to Get: Chillrend is given as a reward for ensuring both sons survive in “The Killing Field.”

With Goldbrand, we get to the final tier of the best weapons in Oblivion Remastered. While these lists will always be subjective, it would be hard for anyone to argue that Goldbrand shouldn’t be high on the list. Goldbrand should absolutely be saved for the late game, as its peak potential is hard for any weapon to touch. The mix of incredibly high-damage output and high fire damage makes Goldbrand an absolute beast. On top of that, there may not be a cooler-looking weapon in the game, especially for those who enjoy a more realistic weapon design. Goldbrand should be one of the first weapons you acquire once you reach level 21.
- How to Get: Reward for completing Boethiah’s Shrine.

For many, Umbra is the best weapon in Oblivion Remastered. Aside from its high damage output, it collects souls and places them in soul gems, essentially making a never-ending supply of its own fuel (as long as you have empty soul gems). Given Umbra’s importance to the overall lore of Oblivion, and how well-known it is to the franchise, there’s very little that needs to be said. Like most of the weapons on this list, you should wait to acquire Umbra until later in the game. However, you can get it any time you’d like, as long as you are willing to take on the challenge of killing Umbra at a low level. Another great perk is that, as long as you keep the associated quest open, Umbra will remain a quest item, and thus weightless.
- How to Get: To get the Umbra sword in Oblivion Remastered, defeat Umbra the character in the Vindasel ruins southwest of the Imperial City. You can do this at any time, or as part of the “Clavicus Vile’s Shrine” quest.

Dawnfang/Duskfang is the best weapon in Oblivion Remastered. The reasons for this are twofold; first, the Nourish Blade enchantment keeps track of enemies killed with the weapon, and when it reaches 12, there is a temporary upgrade to the ‘Superior’ version of the weapon. This adds either Absorb Health (Dawnfang), or Absorb Magicka (Duskfang). Second, this weapon has a dual nature. During the hours between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, the sword is Dawnfang, and deals Fire Damage. From 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, it is Duskfang, and deals Frost Damage. This provides a range of possibilities that no other weapon can match. Because of this, it is hard to argue that Dawnfang/Duskfang is not the best weapon in the game.
- How to Get: You’ll receive Dawnfang/Duskfang after competing the “Baiting the Trap” mission in the Shivering Isles DLC.
