Star Rail's Galaxy Rangers Explained

Fans of the Galaxy Ranger faction have a lot to look forward to. Honkai: Star Rail recently teased the release of Rappa, the latest Imaginary-Erudition 5-star team to arrive at Version 2.6. Besides being a rap ninja, his other interesting character is being a Galaxy Ranger. Players were introduced to this mysterious party during the Penacony arc when Rappa's partner, the cyborg cowboy Boothill, was introduced. They may seem like a disorganized group of vigilantes, but their greatest achievement suggests that there is more to them than meets the eye.

The party there Honkai: Star Rail often accompanied by a Path that its members follow. The Way is an ideal or philosophy that people follow for guidance, blessings, and sometimes strength. The Galaxy Rangers are on the Path of The Hunt with the Xianzhou Alliance but have different goals in pursuing it.

Popular beliefs and stories of Honkai: Star Rail's Galaxy Rangers

The Galaxy Rangers are a group of skilled warriors who seek justice through individual action, which often involves hunting down violent criminals. So, it only makes sense that they are followers of Lan, the Aeon of The Hunt. The Xianzhou Alliance is following this path to exterminate the Denizens of Abundance. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Rangers follow The Hunt to hunt down and kill the evildoers by any means necessary. Both of these reasons are worthy in Lan's eyes.

Galaxy Rangers Core Values

The Galaxy Rangers have their own personalities, so they often have different beliefs. However, they follow two basic rules:

  • Never kill the innocent
  • Don't hurt the weak

The Galaxy Rangers rarely talk to each other, but if there's one thing that can bring them together, it's the fall of one of their friends. Each Ranger has an ammo stack that releases fire if a Ranger dies or needs immediate help. Those who see the flame and recognize it will travel from all over the world to help their fellow Rangers. Boothill used his flare during Sunday's final battle at Penacony for this purpose.

The Rise, Fall and Rise of the Galaxy Rangers

Not much is known about the history of the Galaxy Rangers, aside from three notable events involving clashes with the Antimatter Legion and the disgraced members of the Genius Society.

  • Operation Zulu: The Galaxy Rangers managed to kill the powerful Lord Ravager Zulo, a destroyer and legendary leader of the Antimatter Legion. An unnamed Guardian named Tiernan assisted in this effort, which involved manipulating The Swarm's deadly four-winged insect colony to attack Zulo's fleet.
  • The defeat of Gaius the invader: Emperor Rubert was succeeded by Gaius, a computer scientist and member of the Genius Society. This self-imposed ruler wiped out organic civilizations to replace them with “perfect and clear” Intellitrons. Gaius must continue his legacy until the Galaxy Rangers stop him. However, it is not known how they defeated Gaius.
  • The rebellion of Dr. Primitives: Dr. Primitive, #64 in the Genius Society, planned a project that would “bring back Vonwacq's ancestors”, although the outcome of this plan is still unknown. The Galaxy Rangers put a stop to his plan, protecting Vonwacq's world. However, Dr. Primitive evades capture and remains on the run.

The activities of the Galaxy Rangers slowed down after meeting with Dr. Primitive. Rumor has it that the latter took revenge and turned some of them into monkeys. However, Boothill denies this claim. Additionally, many guardians answered his call during the Penacony arcs.

Boothill's revenge on the IPC

Boothill is currently carrying out his plan to get revenge on Oswaldo Schneider, IPC's Director of Business Development for the latter's possible involvement in the extermination of his tribe. The cyborg cowboy disrupts IPC's operations at Pier Point by chasing Schneider, causing him to be hunted by the company as well. Penacony's epilogue finds him confronting IPC executive Aventurine to find a way to Oswaldo. Despite their individuality, the Galaxy Rangers seem to get the best results when they work together. So, it's interesting to see Rappa or their leader La Mancha get involved in Boothill's revenge plot.
