Slovenia recognizes Palestinian state, defying delay bid

LJUBLJANA: Slovenia’s parliament passed a decree recognizing a Palestinian state on Tuesday, pushing ahead with a vote despite opposition efforts to prevent it. Fifty-two members of the 90-member parliament voted in favor of the government-backed decree recognizing a Palestinian state. The vote followed a similar move by three other European countries last week in response to the devastating Gaza war. The opposition boycotted the vote, with the exception of one MP who was present but abstained.
