Park Hyatt review: Hotel offer insane room deal for Vivid 2024

It’s arguably one of the most magical times of the year to visit Sydney – even if you swap the balmy summer nights for your favourite woolly hat.

Vivid 2024 has really begun, featuring a series of mega light installations, music performances, food festivals and experiences every night for the next two weeks.

The festival itself runs until 15 June and spans various locations in Sydney – including Haymarket and Ultimo, throughout Darling Harbour, the CBD (Pitt Street), Barangaroo, Walsh Bay, Circular Quay and the Royal Botanical Gardens.

But for a truly unparalleled view from arguably the best seat (or bed) in town, there’s only one accommodation with the perfect vantage point this winter.

Without ever leaving their rooms, guests at the luxurious Park Hyatt hotel can relax and unwind in their bathrobes (yes, please) while sipping champagne on their balconies – all while taking in the magic of Vivid as the light show unfolds against the backdrop of the city’s most famous landmarks.

But you don’t have much time—guests literally have until mid-June to enjoy one of the city’s most luxurious two-night stays.

The Vivid at the Park Stay Package – offered by the hotel for the entire duration of Vivid – includes a two-night stay in a selected room (depending on which package is chosen), including daily sumptuous breakfast for up to two guests in the dining room (with unobstructed views both during the day and at night).

Guests can also enjoy the convenience of valet parking (because let’s face it, finding street parking is just not an option during Vivid).

Additionally, guests will receive a generous $350 dining credit, redeemable once per stay, to be used at any of the hotel’s dining establishments.

Once you leave the comfort of your 5-star room, you won’t be disappointed with an after-dark dinner at the Dining Room by James Viles.

Throughout Vivid, guests can enjoy delicious dishes inspired by the color, creativity and energy of Vivid. The menu is priced at $125 per person. Menu highlights include lightly smoked kingfish with sour cream, grapefruit and green cavatelli or the O’Connor fillet with dug mushrooms and Kampot pepper sauce.

But be sure to leave room for dessert, which is considered the “creative highlight” of the hotel menu.

The Valrhona chocolate pudding with 80% komontu and warm chocolate mousse was the absolute favourite for most. But guests can’t go past the Crimson Spin – a visual masterpiece on a plate that takes up Vivid’s “Humanity” theme. The dessert draws on Leonardo da Vinci’s helicopter drawings and Damien Hirst’s spin paintings.

It really is a dessert to die for – with the flavors to match.

Located between the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Park Hyatt is perhaps the best possible location during the event.

Stroll along the waterfront on the Light Walk, just steps from the hotel lobby, or experience the harbour transformed into a dynamic canvas as the historic Customs House and Museum of Contemporary Art Australia come to life.

This year, the sails of the Sydney Opera House will be transformed every evening by a projected tapestry depicting 2023 Archibald Prize winner Julia Gutman’s reinterpretation of the Narcissus myth – creating a truly unique spectacle.

However, the stay is not cheap – packages start at $1,280 per night in one of the hotel’s king rooms with a minimum stay of 2 nights.
