Mobile Legends Patch 1.8.88 Update: Revamped Phoveus, Hero and Battlefield Adjustments and more

With the beginning of the new Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Patch 1.8.88 Update in the Advanced Serverthe developers have made some interesting changes to hero balance and reworked Phoveus, the underperforming MLBB battle hero. The developers have weakened their control options while improving the experience of eliminating minions with Skill 2 or being controlled by enemies.

Attributes (↑)

Maximum Mana: 1200 >> 1500

Skill 2 (~)

  • New effect: Deals 20% additional damage to minions.
  • New effect: If the ability is interrupted by control effects, the ability gauge remains in its original position. After the control ends, there is no need to “pull out” the ability gauge again.
  • Throw enemies into the air for up to: 1.5 s >> 1 s

Zhask (buffed)

Experimental adjustments: The developers hope to increase Nightmaric Spawn’s stability (including damage and control) and break Zhask’s connection to Inspire so he can use other combat spells.

Skill 1 (↑)

The developers have removed the first two basic attacks. Nightmarish brood now continuously emits death rays (counts as basic attacks, damage frequency is no longer affected by attack speed).

Sprint distance increased by 20%. Casting any two Skill 1 or Skill 2 spells activates the improved passive base attack (already in effect in the previous patch).

Optimization of the bounty system

The Bounty system for ending killstreaks and the Team Bounty System have long helped the disadvantaged team catch up to the disadvantaged team, providing more opportunities for a comeback. However, due to a lack of visual representations, many players still don’t understand these mechanics, making it difficult to develop tactics that target the opponent’s high-value objectives.

In this patch we added a display of the current bounty amount for each hero on the scoreboard (only displayed if the bounty is not lower than 120 Gold), which indicates how much additional gold the Killer can get for eliminating this hero. We hope this will help players better use this mechanism to plan their tactics and secure victory.

The Rampage bounty increases with the number of consecutive kills the hero makes, but is only awarded to the player who completes the Rampage. The team bounty increases by the amount the hero is ahead of the opposing team’s average economy. When a leading hero is killed, the team bounty is distributed to all players on the killer’s team.

Battlefield Adjustments

  • The display of the War Cry and Time Domination talents in matches has been optimized.
  • The default combat setup for some heroes has been optimized.
  • Jawhead’s passive description has been optimized to match the actual targets affected.
