The Man Who Doesn't Care About Queen Bee
Mona Kawai is the most popular girl in high school, and she loves the attention she gets. Everyone falls for her beauty. Or almost everyone… because there is this young man who doesn't seem to care about him. But he is determined to change that and does everything he can to seduce her.
It's a tough fight, because the boy, Medaka Kuroiwa, is actually training to be a monk. So he does his best not to be caught by the pleasures of this world. And most importantly, he tries so hard to seduce her that she ends up leaving him!
Meet the main characters
Medaka Kuroiwa, a second year high school boy, is the main character of this series. He is training to be a monk at his family's temple, and is publicly instructed not to fall in love with anyone, which becomes a problem when Mona and the other girls start chasing him.
Mona Kawai can also be considered as the main character, because the story is actually told from her point of view. She's also in her second year of high school, and has moved from Osaka to Tokyo (which probably helps with her cuteness, mostly using Kansai dialect when she's upset). She is vain, and very happy to be the queen of the school. Part of what frustrates him is Medaka's indifference to him.
Besides Mona, there are other girls trying to get close to Medaka, like Tsubomi and Tomo. For those who might want to have a better idea of what to expect, Kodansha USA is releasing the original manga in English. The novel, written by Ran Kuze, has been updated since 2021, and there are 17 books so far.
