Non-Weekly Serialization, Explained
Hunter x Hunter is a big title in both the manga and anime worlds, so it goes without saying that many fans are waiting for new content. However, in chapter 401, a lot of work for the creator, Yoshihiro Togashi. Mangaka has been known to burn out in the past, take huge breaks, or even get sick from the stress and pressure of constant creativity. The pressure is even greater when the mangoes are released every week, and the mangoes work long hours to complete their work on time while maintaining quality.
Togashi will be relieved of that pressure for the future Hunter x Hunter. Instead of being forced to produce high quality content every week or even every month Shonen Jumpnew chapter of Hunter x Hunter will be released only after Togashi is completed. This gives him time to work at a more relaxed pace, knowing that the chapters will be published as he creates them.
Not all manga will survive using this release method, but Hunter x Hunter has a devoted following but manga should not suffer from a lack of readership. Fans only have to wait a little longer between chapters, and can get even more excited when one comes out. Hopefully, this will relieve Togashi of having to stop writing for two years, while maintaining the quality of Hunter x Hunter at the highest level today.
