Egypt's foreign minister, Badr Abdelatty, pledged his country's support for Sudan's stability and security, during a meeting on Tuesday with his counterpart, Hussein Awad.

Abdelatty said Egypt will spare no efforts to help “Sudanese brothers overcome the political, security and humanitarian challenges resulting from the ongoing conflict” in the country.

He highlighted the results of the conference in Cairo on July 6 and 7 attended by Sudanese political parties and civil groups, the most important of which, he said, was the recognition of the need to preserve the institutions, provide aid and humanitarian aid to Sudan. and neighboring countries, and to ensure that the political process is controlled by the Sudanese people.

He also reviewed the progress of development projects carried out by Egypt in Sudan, and assured his country's continuation of such initiatives with its readiness to respond to the country's humanitarian needs.

Abdelatty stressed the need for countries and donor organizations to accelerate the implementation of the pledges made at the conferences in Geneva and Paris, in June 2023 and April 2024, to support Sudan and neighboring countries hosting refugees. Sudan, supporting the United Nations Humanitarian Response Plan. in the country, and help bridge the funding gap.

He also talked about the Awad regional initiative to help solve the crisis in Sudan, and the important and important role played by neighboring countries, especially Egypt, which Abdelatty said but is making great efforts to help Sudan at this important time.

Other topics for discussion included bilateral relations and possible ways to strengthen coordination between countries, along with regional issues of common interest, including the situation – business in the Horn of Africa, the war in Gaza, security in the Red Sea, the situation. in Libya, the Sahel and Sahara regions, and Ethiopia's Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile in upper Sudan and Egypt.

Awad thanked the Egyptian government for the equipment and services it has provided to the Sudanese people since the beginning of the crisis in his country.
