King Charles has reportedly reached the end of his patience with his youngest son after enduring years of a public dispute.

The king and Prince Harry have been at loggerheads since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped away from their official duties – and the United Kingdom – in 2020 to live a more private life in California.

Since then, the couple has revealed their dispute with the royal institution and Harry’s family, which had led to major conflicts between them and Charles, Queen Camilla, as well as Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales.

Although it has been widely reported that the King remains open to a reunion with his son and the two have only communicated sporadically since then, meeting briefly in person in February, he has, according to the British Mirror.

“Charles feels he has made great efforts to repair his relationship with his son, but Harry refuses to give an inch. With that in mind, Charles is changing tactics,” royal writer Tom Quinn told the publication.

“The new plan is to be tougher on Harry; a shift from good cop to bad cop, but palace insiders agree that Charles has run out of patience. He wants to reconcile with his son, but nothing he does seems to be working.”

He added that the “underlying” problem could stem from Harry’s childhood.

“A fundamental problem is that Harry never really had that close a relationship with his father as a child. He was cared for by caregivers and shuffled between Diana and Charles. Harry always seemed lost and forgotten and now it’s too late for his father to do anything about it,” Quinn explained.

Last week, the United Kingdom telegraph reported that Harry had declined an invitation from the king to stay at a royal residence during his brief visit to the United Kingdom.

The Duke’s three-day return to his home country for the Invictus Games made headlines earlier this month – particularly the question of whether or not he would see his father again.

To put an end to the speculation, Harry’s spokesman released a statement at the time confirming that he had requested a meeting with the king but was declined because his weekly schedule was “full.”

According to the telegraphThe Duke, who lives in the United States, had actually been offered accommodation in an undisclosed royal residence, but he declined due to security concerns.

The publication reports that the visibility of the royal estate’s entrance and exit without police protection posed a problem for Harry, who instead opted to stay in a hotel where he was offered more privacy.

However, if he had accepted his father’s offer, the long-awaited meeting between the two might have been easier.

It was also recently reported that Harry was devastated that his father declined an invitation to meet him, especially because “everyone knew the real reason.”

However, his outwardly diplomatic statement made it clear that it was the king who was either unable or unwilling to change his schedule to see his son, with whom relations had been severely strained in recent years.

It was later claimed that Harry secretly found the public snub “painful”.

“He was deeply shocked by his father’s blatant refusal to see him for even a moment,” Quinn told the British Mirror.

“This time the rejection was particularly painful because it was so public – although Harry made a statement saying he fully understood why his father didn’t have time to see him, everyone knows the real reason had nothing to do with a busy schedule.”

A few days after Harry’s departure from Britain, a report emerged that the king had avoided the meeting to avoid “the drama” surrounding his youngest son.

“He doesn’t need the drama in his life,” said the Daily MailRichard Eden claimed that a source close to the king had told him about it.

“Harry and Meghan have brought him and the rest of the family nothing but worry over the past few years.”
