In HxH 403, the Third Prince of the Kakin Empire, Zhang Lei, decided that he wanted to visit Kurapika in hopes of understanding the power of the Nen Beast Spirit. Zhang Lei had his own theory about the coins dropped by his beast, but he believed that someone as experienced as Kurapika would be able to figure out what they were doing.
HxH 404 begins with Kurapika and Zhang Lei, examining coins. Kurapika thought that every time a coin changed hands, something could change. It was shown that the coins Zhang Lei gave and the ones he kept had different designs on the back.
Zhang Lei then gave Kurapika ten coins–something that would have been dangerous if the effects of the coins were immediate. However, due to Zhang Lei's status, it was unacceptable for Kurapika to refuse, and it would endanger their friendship. Anyway, the second Kurapika holding it changed the ten coins.
This led Kurapika to deduce what he believed to be the power of that Nen Beast. Kurapika describes this ability as Cumulative Conjuration. In a period of 6 months, the coin is worth 10^64, and at that time, the owner of the coin can open nen without training.
