However, the latest Steam Deck update broke the Decky Loader app which was required to run it. This guide has been updated to include a fix to reset your Decky program and restore your plugins and settings.
Enable and disable Cloud Save on Steam Deck
With Steam Deck in hand, use the following steps to manage cloud storage for all games:
- Click the Steam button in front of the Steam Deck.
- Select Settings choice.
- Then, down to the Cloud choice.
- Click the switch to blue to enable Cloud Saving or leave it disabled to save game files locally.
- This will ensure that all games are stored in the cloud.
Enable Cloud Save for each game
Players can change the cloud save feature for each game if they want. Here are the steps to access the save game:
- Click the Steam button.
- Then, select the menu option on the second side for – BOOK OF Jehovah's Witnesses. This screen displays the list of games for the user.
- Select the desired game to open the game screen.
- Select the brand cog to access the game settings.
- Select the Properties choice.
- In the General tab, drop down the menu and check or remove the Keep the game in the Steam Cloud option. This means that players can save their games in the title. However, this option only is available after the game is launched and the save file is created.
Transfer Cloud Save from PC to Steam Deck
Playing games between Steam Deck, laptop, or PC makes the cloud storage option a very useful tool. To ensure that the cloud storage option is enabled in the Steam App, use the following instructions:
- Select the cloud option and see the Enable Steam Cloud Synchronization for the app.

How to Manually Access Save Files on Steam Deck
Steam Deck users can access the saved files in Steam Deck and make copies if necessary. Use the following steps to access your Steam Deck save file:
- Grab a keyboard and mouse and connect it to Steam Deck.
- Press the Steam button and highlight Power to switch to Desktop Mode.
- Open Dolphin File Explorer.
- Right click in file explorer and see Show Hidden Files.
- Use the road /home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/
- The Compat Data folder contains a folder with Steam ID numbers. Use SteamDB to identify specific games App ID number.
- Click on the folder with the corresponding ID to access the prefix folder.
- The next step is the Steam ID Number/.pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/
- Find the game folder you want and open the HISTORY directory to access game files.
Install Decky Cloud Save on Steam Deck
Another way to manage your Steam Deck storage is to install a plugin called DeckyCloud and sync it with external cloud storage systems like Dropbox, Google Drive, and One Drive. To use these services in the game mode of Steam Deck, you must install the Decky Loader program for the plugin.
Enable Developer Mode
- Click on the steam button to enter the Steam menu.
- Open the SYSTEM menu.
- Under Beta Participation select stable.
Keeping Steam Deck in Stable Mode maintains better compatibility with third-party programs such as Decky Loader.
- Leave it now Developer mode under System Settings.
- Open the news Developer menu at the bottom of the left login menu.
- Then, under Miscellaneous, enable CEF Remote Debugging.
- Click on the steam button again.
- Select authority.
- Then, enter Desktop Mode to prepare the Steam Deck install the Decky Loader.
Load the Decky Loader
- With Steam Deck Desktop modeopen a browser.
- If you want, connect the keyboard and mouse.
- Go to the Decky Loader GitHub page and download Decky Loader.
- Select Recommended Install and return to Gaming Mode through the desktop background.
If the Decky Loader menu and plugins disappear, please reset your window to Developer Mode using the steps above. Steam Deck software updates can disrupt the Decky Loader program, but restarting Developer Mode and CEF Remote Debugging should restore Decky Loader, plugins, and all changes.
Enter Decky Cloud Save
With the Decky Loader program installed and the Steam Deck in Gaming Mode, press the QAM button (the button with three dots) to access a new menu with plug icon.
- When the Decky Loader menu opens, click the store icon.
- Scroll down the list to Deky Cloud Save and tap to put.
- Press the QAM button again to access Decky and open the Decky Cloud Save menu.
Using Decky Cloud Save
You need a OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox account to access external cloud storage.
- Under imitationenable Configure to start & stop the game and Toast after automatic synchronization.
- Open Cloud provider.
- Click the cogwheel for OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox and enter your login details.
- Press the B button to return.
- Open the Decky Cloud Save again and select it Adjust now.

How to reset Decky Loader after updating Steam Deck
The latest Steam Deck update allows disabling the Decky Cloud feature. The program may disappear completely when the Quick Access Menu button is pressed. Generally, changing the state of Developer Mode can solve this problem; However, the latest update disabled the Decky Loader program with all plugins. To restore Decky Loader and plugins, use the following steps.
- Click on the steam button and select the Power option.
- Return to Desktop mode.
- Open your browser and navigate to the Decky Loader page on GitHub.
- Restart the Decky Loader installer.
- Once the installer has finished downloading, double-click the installer and select it perform. Do not select Open as you will remove all your plugins and settings.
- Enter your sudo password and run the installation.
If you haven't set a sudo password, the system will prompt you to create one. Choose something memorable, because the sudo password can be reset by restoring Steam Deck to factory settings.
- After reinstalling the Decky Loader the power went out the Steam Deck and return to Gaming Mode.
- Click the QAM button and the Decky Loader will return to its normal state, with changes and plugins.
