Tonics are the sweetest reward for you in this Episode, giving you a way to farm some targets by drinking the right tonics. They are also a way to improve the Artifact gain of your build, perfect for pushing GM Nightfalls or Master attacks. Even if you're not a Destiny player, you'll want to craft a few of these tonics to get the season's new gear. Let us show you how.

What are Tonics?

Destiny 2 Tonic For example

Tonics act as a substitute for the seasonal grid development of most Destiny players. You can consume tonics to change movement rewards, enemy drop tables, and even Artifact gains. They are the primary source of seasonal gear in The Revenant, so it's important that you regularly engage with this system.

Tonics come in two forms:

  • Variable tonic: These improve Artifact benefits with new properties.
  • Tonic Enhancement: These change the rewards for moving and navigating monsters.

Tonic duration is 20 minutes by default, but rare variants tend to last longer. As you develop tonics during this period, you will stumble upon more familiar and stronger patterns that will further increase your rewards.

Tonics come in three varieties: Uncommon (green), Rare (blue), and Legendary (purple).

How to make a tonic

Season Quest doesn't do a good job of explaining how to make a tonic, but the process is simple. Let's break it down into steps:

  1. In the Last City hub, contact the Tonic Table. It is near Eido.
  2. Select the tonic you want to prepare.
    1. The reagents for these tonics are found in content and seasonal quests.
  3. When done, leave the table.
  4. Go to the nearby tool cabinet to pick up.
  5. Contact the tonic tester next to the ruined Fallen Walker. Behind Eido.
  6. Fill the tank to release your tonic.

Your tonic is made in one batch, so you don't have to repeat steps 4-6 for each potion lined up. In other words, You use the Tonic Table to make the potions, then you walk around the tonic room to make them. It's a lot of work, but you only have to do it once per batch.

Use Tonic

Destiny 2 Tonic Menu

All your tonics are available at record tab, located to the right of your tab. Once you get there, you'll love it see Tonic Capsules near the top of your screen. Doing so will top up all the Volatile and Enriching Tonics you've made so far.

The Tonic Capsule is intended for drinking tonics and reagents. You can't make a tonic with this food.

Select which tonic you want to activate, and the timer will start. You can only have one Volatile Tonic and one Enriching Tonic at the same time. A new activation will override your previous tonic.

How to get reagents

Destiny 2 Tonic Reagent

Reagents are generally found in Revenant content and slain enemies. Almost all resources can be found in Onslaught: Salvation and from slain Scorn. Enemies don't have a guaranteed hit rate, but they're a decent source of power if there's a clear boost.

If you need a supply of reagents, complete Eido's fieldwork quest. All of the mini-quests award a small amount of gear when completed.

How to unlock new tonic recipes

Destiny 2 Eido in Lab Tonic

New tonic recipe is found by make the same tonic several times. It seems that every tonic you unlock by default (the uncommon ones) has a Rare and Legendary variant that unlocks when you craft a copy of that particular tonic.

For example, the Tonic of Onslaught Gear is unlocked by default and provides timed gear. If you craft 5-10 copies of this tonic, you'll find the Vintage Tonic of Onslaught Weaponry, which gives you a weapon for target farming. Make a copy of that Rare tonic, and you'll unlock a legendary variant.

There is 15 Volatile Tonic SY 30 Tonic Enhancement you can in Episode: Revenant. Volatile Tonics increase in strength and duration as their rarity increases, giving you various Artifact upgrades in one tonic. Enriching Tonics allow you to farm more efficiently and for longer, so there are more Enriching Tonic recipes.
