Improvement of weapons and armor in the throne and freedom works a little differently compared to MMOs you may be used to. This guide covers where to go to upgrade your hardware, what you need to consume in the upgrade process, and general mechanics and features of the system.
The upgrade system, or 'stunning' as the game likes to call it, requires a variety of tools each time there is an upgrade. Each of these components can be collected from different sources, and sometimes also updated from weaker versions.
How to use Growthstones to attract equipment
You can access the development tool by pressing the period '.' keybind, or open the menu and go to '

Each type of item requires a different type of Growthstones. The main resources used to upgrade the components are logically named based on the type of item:
- Weapon Growthstone
- Armor Growthstone
- Accessory Growthstone
Depending on the rarity level of your item, it will require a certain rarity of Growthstones. Here are all the Growthstones and the rare ones used. We've included “Weapon” style growthstones, but the same goes for each type of item:
- few (green) – Quality weapon growth
- rare (Blue) – Rare weapon growth
- Epic (Rat) – Precious weapon growth
Once you've upgraded your item to a certain level, you can no longer upgrade it. For example, if you have a choice Rare (green) headpiece, you can just turn it up six levels. Level six is the highest upgrade level for this item.
Rare and Epic good things will be able to achieve nine levels. This item can be transferred to another item at a higher level, which will be discussed in this guide.
This is different from the skill upgrade system, where after reaching the maximum level of an Uncommon (green) skill, it becomes a Rare (blue) skill.
When you upgrade an item, higher levels require more Growthstones and Sollant to reach full level.
The rate of improvement of the equipment, explained
Every time you use Growthstones to upgrade an item, it will use the displayed amount and 'spin' to see how much the item will upgrade.
This means that every time you spend Growthstones and Sollant to upgrade an item, your item will get closer to the next level, but not necessarily a full level. If you're lucky, there's a 10 percent chance to increase your upgrade bar to 80 percent.

The above chart can be viewed in-game by hovering over the '?' beside The rate of renewal of the equipment. This means you have a 40 percent chance of getting 25 percent of the item growth bar, a 30 percent chance of getting 30 percent of the growth bar, and so on.
If you're lucky, you'll spin a few Larger or special rolls and can improve your load faster and with fewer Growthstones used.
If you successfully upgrade the item, 56 percent of the experience that is not required at that level will be transferred to the item's next upgrade level.
How to upgrade upgraded equipment
The rare thing will be max at one time and will not be updated again. When things reach this point, they can then be sacrificed (transferred) to improve something new you have the next level / rarity. You can also transfer equipment even if you haven't reached the maximum enchanted level. When you move a device to something else, the original item will be destroyed.
It is worth noting that you can move different types of weapons. For example, if you have a +4 blue dagger, you can transfer it to a blue greatsword and turn it into a +4 as well.
This allows you to feel more free to upgrade your equipment while the level is up and feel secure in the knowledge that your equipment will still be useful if better items are available.
When transferring equipment, experience gained from the old item will be applied to the new item. You can transfer an element to another rare element and keep its level (as described above); but you can do it too moving lower quality goods into higher quality goods.
The main levels you want to achieve when moving rare items to rare items are as follows:
- few (green) Gear Level 6 > rare (Blue) Level 3
- rare (Blue) Gear Level 9 > Epic Tier 1 (Rat) Level 6
It is important to remember that you will get the most out of your item if you transfer it to the highest level of that rarity. Uncommon items can add 6 and rare items can add 9.
With this knowledge, you will find yourself using the alarm system more often because there is less risk of installing an update device on the wrong item. Feel free to cast spells while playing, because you know you can always transfer the experience the item gets. Use the two main levels mentioned to get the most out of your rare items before moving on to rare.
