Updated on January 20, 2025 by Renri Seong: Flying-type Rookiee is a small Pokemon that evolves into a powerful Flying/Steel-type Corviknight. This evolutionary line made its debut in the Gen 8's Sword/Shieldand back to Gen 9 in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. The Paldea region is home to Flying and Steel-type Pokemon, so trainers may wonder if Corviknight is still holding back a generation later. The following guide has been updated to include specific information on where to find the Rookiee line and how to convert Rookiedee to Corviknight.

Rookie & Corvisquire Locations
Rokidee and Corvisquire are Pokemon that you can catch very early in your game. You can catch them South Region (Region One, Three, Five) SY Eastern Province (region one, two, three). In these places you can catch Rookiee Eastern Province (three regions). It is directly from the east gate of Mesagoza, in the same direction as the Stony Cliff Titan.
If you don't have a gym token, caught Pokemon will obey you until level 20. Sometimes, you may see a Rookie group around Corvisquire. If you want to avoid Rookiedee evolving, just look for Corvisquire.
Another way to get Rookiedee and Corvisquire is to capture them in Tera Raids:
-
Rookiee: Tera Raid 1 star
-
Corvisquire: Tera Raid 3 stars (unlocks after earning 3 gym badges)
How to upgrade your Rookie to Corvisquire and Corviknight
Rookie Evolution Level
If you want to change the Rookie into a Corviknight, you need to change it into a Corvisquire first (level 18). When the Corvisquire arrives level 38it will evolve into Corviknight. The fastest way to power up your Rookie/Corvisquire is to feed him Exp. Candy (M, L, XL).
Alternatively, you can capture Corviknight from 5-star or 6-star Tera Raids. 5-star Tera Raids are unlocked after completing the main quest “The Way Home”. If you want 6 star Tera Raids, you need to complete the postgame story (Academy Ace Tournament) and unlock some Tera Raids. You will get a call from Jacq when there are 6 star Tera Raids.
Fixed Corviknight position
If you look at Corviknight's entry, you will see that it says “HABITAT UNKNOWN”. Northern Province (Second Region), east of Firescourge Shrine, home of the legendary Pokemon Chi-Yu. The Corviknight in the Northern Region (Second Region) has a fighting type of Tera. You can change your Birth Type by going to the Treasure Eatery in Medali.

Is Corviknight good for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
Corviknight Stats & Type Effectiveness
Unlike his evolved form, Corviknight is a Flying/Steel type. This means he learns moves that give him coverage against types that most Flying types don't have. However, it gets more types of weakness.
Statistically, Corviknight has high Defense, working better as a wall rather than a fighter:
HP: |
98 |
---|---|
Attack: |
87 |
Special Attack: |
53 |
Protection: |
105 |
Personal protection: |
85 |
Speed: |
67 |
Total: |
495 |
Due to its low Special Attack, Corviknight should have physical moves instead of special moves. For example, it is better to study Corviknight Steel Wing (which he learns by warning) but not the special move, Flash Cannon. If you want to increase Defense in battle, make sure you have it Iron protection in his moveset.
The nature dedicated to Corviknight is Impish (+Def, -Sp. Attk). You can also work with a Be Careful (+Sp. Def, -Sp. Attk) Nature, but generally, Impish is preferred.
If you use Corviknight in battle, you should know his strengths and weaknesses:
