Pokemon PocketMythical Island's mini-set may be the reason why some players are looking for colorless decks. The expansion introduced powerful cards like Pidgeot ex and the new Tauros, which seem like good options for deck building. However, the challenge remains, as colorless Pokemon still struggle to be the stars of a lineup — even though they've always stood out as supporting characters. This guide uses the latest addition of Pokemon Pocket to overcome these traps and create the most relevant META colorless deck can be done.

Pokemon TCG Pocket: The Best Blastoise Ex Deck Build
Blastoise ex is one of the few Pokemon Pocket cards that can throw off some PvP metagames with a bit of luck; here's how to exploit it.
The problem of building a ladder without color in the pocket
There are two major drawbacks to using an off-color deck Pokemon Pocket: 1) Most colorless Pokemon have below average damage, and 2) colorless packs have no type of advantage – no other types are weak against them.
So far, players have been using colorless Pokemon to soften the Energy RNG of two types of ads. For example, Druddigon requires one Water, one Fire and one Colorless Energy to deal 90 damage. But building a solid Fire-Water base depends on RNG. So, play the colorless Pokemon and support Druddigon by allowing unnecessary energy to activate your cards without affecting Druddigon's requirements.
That hasn't changed, and the release of new colorless Pokemon in the Mythical island mini-set isn't enough to revive the genre. However, one particular Pokemon, Pidgeot ex, created more room to approach the colorless archetype in creativity and competition.
In the current metagame, the best off-color decks consist of Pidgeot ex & Dragonite lineups. You can customize it by adding Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Dratini, Dragonair, Tauros, and Kangaskhan. For trainer cards, use Leaf, Potion, Giovanni, Poke Ball, and Professor's Research.
The strategy is to use a variety of water and lightning energy, allowing you to bring up Dragonite on the bench while stopping your opponent with colorless Pokemon like Kangaskhan and Tauros. The Pidgeot ex Evolution lineup serves as a backup plan.

The Pidgeot ex Evolution line in this deck uses the new variants: Pidgey (A1a #57) and Pidgeotto (A1a #58).
Colorless deck synergies
- Dratini and Dragonair help you evolve into Dragonitewho can then use Water and Lightning to deal up to 200 damage.
- The new Pidgey and Pidgeotto from the Mythical island are early damage dealersdealing more damage than their Genetic Apex counterparts. They have lower HP, and Pidgeotto requires more Energy to attack. But since you intend to evolve them into Pidgeot ex, the Energy spent will not go to waste.
- Pidgeot ex is your secondary DPS. If Dragonite doesn't work, you can focus on activating Pidgeot ex, which can deal up to 140 damage if your opponent's Bench is full.
- Tauros is your wild card. If the opponent is playing an old Pokemon, Tauros can take him out quickly by dealing 120 damage with three colorless energy.
- Kangaskhan is your horseman. He stops at the Active Spot to buy time and build Dragonite and Pidgeot ex.
- Leavesthe new Supporter from Mythical Isles, allowing you to dodge Kangaskhan or Tauros and bring in your attackers.
- Giovanni make up for the lack of power in colorless cards.
You can replace Giovanni with Pokemon Flute. Using the Pipe, you may be able to bring a discarded card to the opponent's Bench just before Pidgeot ex attacks, giving it a 20 damage bonus.
How to Effectively Play a Variety of Colorless Decks
If you decide to play a colorless deck PTCGPkeep these tips in mind:
- Outsource your DPS: Most colorless Pokemon have no power but are easy to build. Use them as damage providers instead of your primary DPS. If you want to build a deck without a solid color, you need to bring more powerful cards from other types of Pokemon to damage.
- Go two energy: Pokemon PocketThe meta struggles with two types of decks, and the colorless lineup is the best way to use two energy cards. Try trying a card like Druddigon in a colorless pack with Fire and Water Energy, as your other Pokemon will work with both.
- Download the RNG: High power colorless cards, like Lickitung, rely on coin flips to deal damage, which is not guaranteed. While RNG heavy starters like Kangaskhan are great, don't make them the centerpiece of your deck if you want to win PvP games.
