What were the original signs of monopoly?
There was ten original Monopoly tokens, which you can see below.

The first version of Monopoly did not use the traditional metal tokens that we see today. They usually are made of wood. This is because the world in the early 1900s, as we know it, was involved in many wars. Metal production often goes to the war effort, therefore the identification is based on trees during these periods.

However, not everyone did. In 1942, the torch, the purse and the spinning horse was stopped. In the year 2000, the Cannon removed, and in 2013, said goodbye to Iron. Finally, in 2017, the Original boot and thimble made his last appearance.

In 1999, the Sack of Money appeared shortlylasting until 2007.

Monopoly 80th Anniversary (Special Edition)
In 2015, Monopoly was given a special edition, celebrating 80 years of the game. This series was accompanied by eight pieces that were used throughout the year.

The 80's edition of Monopoly is limited, so we consider this a special edition.

How many total Monopoly Tokens are there?
So, there is eight current monopoly signs (nine, if you count Monopoly Man), but in total it's over 18 that come and sometimes, go. When you buy a new version of Monopoly it will come with the eight signs mentioned above, but if you get a second copy, you may see discontinued pieces that are no longer being produced.
