Puzzle masters often get bad reviews, but these battles are some of the best.
This moon puzzle can be confusing at first and there are more rewards around it than it seems at first, so let's take a look at Remaining 2 deep random events. This includes how to solve it, how not to worry about solving it, what the rewards are, and more.
Updated on December 1, 2024 by Jacob Buchalter: With all the DLC planned for Remnant 2 now, it's easy to look back and see that The Forgotten Kingdom DLC has the most challenging and interesting puzzles of the bunch. While The Awakened King had the best combat (in general) and the best atmosphere and The Dark Horizon had the new equipment, The Forgotten Kingdom DLC is all about puzzles and secrets. And, one of the fan-favorite secrets of this DLC is the Phase of the Moon Event that can appear in areas like the Earthen Coliseum and the Proving Grounds. There are a lot of items available in the area for this event, so let's take a look at how this event works and how to get all the items it has to offer.
The phases of the moon movement
What exactly is that?
You'll know you've reached the Moon's Progression area by the map that pops up if you've reached the t-shaped area on the map, with this Moon Phases icon on the this is a wall. There is also a journal under the mural that goes a little more into the Yaesha lore of this event, but to solve it all you need to do is remember the order of this picture.
There are a total of 9 phases of the moon here to look at, and if they were the same as the phases of the Earth-Moon, they would be in this order:
Name of the process |

In general, the puzzle wants to move from one circle of the earth to another, following the sequence of the moon's phases. So keep an eye on your bottom and go step by step to cross. If you get it wrong, you'll fall to the floor below and fight Living Armor enemies as well as the incredibly difficult Root monstrosity. And, most importantly, most of the floor in this lower area is partially underwater, so you'll have a hard time escaping.
Rewards in this area
All items you can find here
Let's see what exactly you can get from the Phase of the Moon puzzle. There are a couple of things you can pick up here, more than you'd expect, along with the usual Scrap and Upgrade Materials for defeating enemies. These are:
Verb |
Name |
Type |
Effect |
---|---|---|---|
![]() |
Mark of the Destroyer |
Ring |
Perfect Dodging causes a 3 meter blast that deals 310 burst damage. |
![]() |
Stone moon |
Amulet |
Increases speed by 15 percent. Every 3rd manual reset will reset both weapons and increase Ranged damage by 15% for 10 seconds. |

Tome of Knowledge |
something |
+1 Attribute (or +500 Scrap if you run out) |
It is also worth noting that you can completely clean the lower part. Although this Root monster has absurd health, he can still be killedthis means you can eliminate all enemies and then explore this lower area to your heart's content.
An unwanted solution
AKA Follow Leader & Shoot the Ground
Now, if you don't care about solving this puzzle the 'intended' way, there are two other ways to solve it that may be faster. The first way is to simply follow a guide that tells you the path to follow, such as:
- Left, Forward, Right, Forward, Right, Back, Right, Back (AKA ←, ↑, →, ↑, →, ↓, →, & ↓) to reach the open door, get the Symbol of the Destroyer Ring& open the shortcut
- Left, Forward, Forward, Left, (AKA ←, ↑, ↑, & ←) and then jump to the corner of the Full Moon tile to fall into a separate lower room that holds the Moon Stone Amulet.
And for the second easy accidental solution, just shoot the ground. Just like the invisible bridge puzzle in The Lament, you can shoot the floor in front of you during this Moon Phase puzzle and see if the bullet goes through the floor or not.
If they do, it's not a floor you can step on, if they don't, you're definitely moving on. It's best to use a gun with unique projectiles that kind of 'pop' what they hit, like the Thorn Long Gun, but any weapon works well for this trick.
