Former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins will marry David Sharaz at one of Australia’s most exclusive and elegant wedding venues.

The couple are expected to marry on Saturday on the stunning grounds of The Valley Estate in Currumbin Water, about 25 kilometres south of the Gold Coast.

The couple, who have moved to France, will exchange vows in Byron Bay on New Year’s Eve 2022 following Mr Sharaz’s proposal.

The Valley Estate features an elegant red brick “mansion”, chapel and jetty, as well as an open terrace area with fountains and beautiful lawns.

“The Manor is a bright and incredibly beautiful space with dramatic arched windows and large chandeliers,” the venue’s website says.

“A space where industrial influences and textures merge.

“There really is no better place for your reception – a place where memories are made.”

The venue also offers several ceremony options, including a non-denominational chapel and a lakeside jetty.

“The Valley Estate Chapel is incredibly charming, understated and exquisitely appointed,” the website says.

“Antique oak benches and leaded glass windows frame the spectacular hinterland views.”

The venue has been featured in numerous media outlets, including Vogue Magazine and Ocean Road Magazine.

This joyous day follows years of turmoil for Ms Higgins after she was raped in Parliament House by disgraced Liberal staffer Bruce Lehrmann.

In a high-profile judgment in Mr Lehrmann’s libel case against the Ten Network, Justice Michael Lee found on the preponderance of probabilities that Mr Lehrmann raped Ms Higgins.

Lehrmann always maintained his innocence.

Ms Higgins is also facing legal proceedings brought by former Defence Minister Senator Linda Reynolds.

Ms Reynolds is suing Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz over their social media posts in which the Senator claims her reputation has been damaged.

Mr Sharaz announced in April that he was withdrawing from the legal proceedings because he could not afford to finance the proceedings.

The defamation case is scheduled to go to court on July 24 after peace talks failed to reach an agreement during mediation sessions in May.

Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz moved to Lunas in the south of France in December 2023, about a year after she was awarded $2.4 million in compensation by the Commonwealth.
