The Nintendo Switch version of the recently released 2D side-scroller Antonblast should be able to run at 60 FPS now thanks to a new display update, according to game developer Summitsphere. Antonblast is the last entry in the studio Anton indie series.
Among the top-rated games of 2024 on compilation site OpenCritic, Antonblast is a fast-paced platformer that Summitsphere describes as a mix of Crash Bandicoot SY Wario Land title. It launched on PC on December 3rd after a successful Kickstarter campaign, while the Switch release was pushed back to December 13th in an effort to make improvements. Although the actor was given more development time, it was noted AntonblastThe Switch build has suffered from underperformance and crashes. Fortunately, Summitsphere's latest update for this version has addressed the above issues and more.

In a recent Twitter post, Summitsphere said that a performance patch for the Antonblast on the Switch that went live over the holidays it raised the frame rate to 60 FPS and fixed some bugs. The reform also brought about other changes, but these are unknown. Many players have confirmed the improvement, but some say so AntonblastFrame rates on the Switch were still inconsistent and sometimes dropped below target.
Antonblast on Switch gets 60 FPS Performance Boost
While there are plenty of games that can run at 60 FPS on the Switch, it's not unusual for more graphically demanding titles to feature compromises such as lower performance and visual fidelity. CD Projekt Red's Switch port of the open world RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Huntfor example, it tried to maintain 30 FPS on startup even when running at only 540p.
The Switch handheld is powered by a variant of the Nvidia Tegra X1, a system-on-chip that was already considered obsolete by some when the first model of Nintendo's popular console was released in March 2017. The successor to the Switch is expected to have the newer Nvidia Tegra T239, which should be more powerful than the Tegra X1, as a CPU. More information about the upcoming machine will be announced before the end of the fiscal year on March 31, 2025, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa assured.
Antonblast currently has an average score of 85 on OpenCritic, with many praising its gameplay, art style, level design, and humor. Summitsphere announced around a week after the game's first PC release that the platformer had already sold one million copies.
