Key Takeaways
- The golden bell represents Shandorian's ancestors and Luffy strikes to help the descendants.
- The Poneglyph contains historical knowledge and leads to the Laugh Tale, where One Piece is believed to exist.
- Ancient weapons include Pluto, Poseidon, and Uranus, all linked to potentially devastating sea-level rise.
The titular macguffin of One piece is an artifact whose true nature is unclear, but at least confirmed as a physical object. Since the killing of Gol D. Roger, who was supposed to stop all pirates, many have decided to turn to pirates because of the interest in this mysterious thing, as well as the wealth of Roger.
Monkey D. Luffy is one of these many pirates, trying to become the Pirate King. It seems that Roger's vision of One Piece was able to do the same, which is why many people are looking for it. That said, it is far from the only significant artifact found in history. Here are some other important pieces of the puzzle.

Oda has adapted some of his characters from popular culture. Below are some examples.
5 Golden Bell
The Light of Shandora
Kalgara, a Shandorian warrior and Wyper's ancestor, explains that the Golden Bell serves many purposes. It marked their presence in the world, represented their ancestral home, and showed their lack of fear of invaders. Gol D. Roger has Kozuki Oden write a message on the bell when they meet. Recently, Luffy knocks Enel inside the artifact, only to be heard by Mont Blanc Cricket, descendant of Noland, a friend of Kalgara. Unfortunately, the bell was also destroyed.

For one reason or another, these characters may not return to the series in the future, if at all.
The bell rang again to thank the Straw Hats, who fled the island before the Shandorians could thank them. Since the timeskip, the bell has been restored, and cleared of the vines that once surrounded it.
4 Poneglyphs
ancient text
These gigantic monuments contain untranslated historical knowledge. Only two survivors can read them: Nico Robin, the sole survivor of the Ohara Massacre; and Kozuki Sukiyaki, a descendant of their creator. The monuments are said to be indestructible – presumably, otherwise they would have been destroyed by the World Government by now.
There are currently three known types of these cubic structures. Historical Poneglyphs, as the name suggests, contain messages and information related to ancient history. Instructional Poneglyphs guide the reader into the story. Finally, the Road Poneglyphs are four red colored Poneglyphs (instead of the usual dark blue). These allow readers to reach Laugh Tale, where One Piece is supposed to exist.
There is also the Rio Poneglyph, a collection of nine Poneglyphs. It is believed to contain the true history of the world, including the forbidden “Void Century”, which people have been murdered for trying to explore.
3 Ancient weapons
A powerful weapon
Active during the Great War, Pluto, Poseidon, and Uranus appear to be responsible for the continued rise in sea levels. Joy Boy was involved in their defense, for reasons currently unknown. Many power-hungry people seek to collect one or more of these things, viewing them as obstacles that might challenge their power.
Pluto
Pluton, declared the “World's Baddest Battleship”, was created in Water 7 long ago. It is said to be able to destroy an island with a single shot, and resides beneath Mount Fuji in Wano in a dormant state. Spandam convinces the Five Elders to let him take the blueprints for Pluton, in order to build conditions. In fact, Spandam wants to create Pluto, overthrowing the World Government with it. It is said that plans have been passed down among the shipbuilders of Water 7 for years.
Tom, Franky and Iceburg's mentor, is one of the last to get them. Spandam's work to retrieve the blueprints was the first reason Cipher Pol 9 entered Water 7. Franky, however, destroyed the blueprints, preventing the government from creating a direct link to the old weapon.

One Piece: 5 people born throughout history
These characters were born after Monkey D. Luffy started his journey. As a result, most of them are babies.
Poseidon
Poseidon is a mermaid princess who can command and communicate with the Sea Kings, giant underwater creatures that inhabit all the oceans of the world. Chances depend on whose orders the Sea King follows, allowing for the destruction or salvation of the world.
Poseidon's current incarnation is Shirahoshi, the princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, who is a distant descendant of another mermaid who once had the ability. Unable to control her powers at a young age, Shirahoshi inadvertently summoned the sea kings with her cries. Years later, when his kingdom was under attack, he displayed a higher level of authority.
Uranus
Uranus is not visible at this time, but it is likely that it shares the potential for destruction that its allies do. Caribou, who had learned each weapon from his travels with the Straw Hat Pirates, informed the Blackbeard Pirates of their presence. This means that Teach and his colleagues will try to collect them in the future.
2 The empty throne
Symbol Hollow
It is said that the Empty Seat sits in the center of the world. It has existed for centuries, and is said to be uninhabited, as a symbol of guaranteed equality under the World Government. People often gather around him during Levely, but no one can sit on him, not even one of the five Elders. Surrounding this gigantic throne are 19 weapons—those of the original 19 rulers who chose to become world rulers. Nefertari Lili's weapon is still missing.
In fact, the throne is Imu, the mysterious ruler of the world, who commands the Five Elders. The existence of this entity remains a secret, to maintain the illusion that the World Government is a fair and equal system not controlled by one person. Cobra was killed because of his knowledge of Imu, and seeing Sabo himself was the victim of a similar attempt. Ultimately, the Empty Seat and the truth behind it will be the key to informing people of how World Government works.
1 Roger's straw hat
Atop Luffy's Head right now
Gol D. Roger wore this straw hat when he was a freshman. He later passed it on to Shanks, one of his sons at home. Shanks later allows himself to be borrowed by the young D. Luffy, hoping that he will return the Straw Hat when he becomes a “big pirate”. After that, it becomes a substitute for Luffy and his crew. Because of its history as Shanks' hat, it holds great emotional value for Luffy, and it's also a way to keep him distantly connected to Roger. Shanks was not shy about comparing his protégé to the legendary former captain.
That said, the hat may have greater historical value than previously thought. A very frosty straw hat is held in Mary Geoise, the audience sees Imu looking at her. The significance of this hat, and its relation to Roger's hat, is currently unknown.
