All the major blade classes we know in one piece

Meito, known as the Legendary Sword, Legendary Blades, and similar nicknames is, as each name implies, a blade made of high prestige. Those skilled in the blade will be able to identify them immediately, and they tend to command high prices and high users. Each Meito is given a “grade” based on its strength and quality.

One Piece: 5 non-canon characters that make no sense

Although all non-canon characters are technically “non-significant” in One Piece, they seem to be the most at odds with the main canon.

Great Grade Blades are the second highest grade blades, sitting below the 12 Supreme Blades. There are only 21 of these Meitos in existence. From the Land of Wano, well-known for its high-level artisans, these five are currently known to viewers and those who have connections to the area today. This list will document all currently known Great Grade Blades.

6 Wado Ichimonji

One of Zoro's blades

angle using wado ichimonji in one part

  • Current owner: Roronoa Zoro
  • Creator: Shimotsuki Kouzaburou

Wado Ichimonji is a katana that Zoro has owned since his quest to become the strongest swordsman in the world. His friend and training partner, Shimotsuki Kuina used it before. Wado Ichimonji was created by his grandfather, Kouzaburou, who brought him with him from Wano. Living in East Blue, he helped found the village called Shimotsuki. Kouzaburou's legacy was used by both his son Koushirou and his granddaughter Kuina.

Kuina and Zoro were Koushirou's best students, forming a close friendship and rivalry as a result. In a fierce battle, Kuina uses Wado Ichimonji and defeats Zoro with it. However, he celebrated a bit, as Koushirou's sexist belief that women could not be good with swords worried him, especially as he was older. Zoro assures him that only skill and determination matter, and the two men swear that one of them will become the strongest swordsman in the world.

After his sudden death at the age of eleven, Zoro asked for the sword, so that he could fulfill his promise to Kuina. Koushirou let it go, and it stayed with the swordsman ever since. In a way, it's still technically a Shimotsuki legacy, since Zoro's grandmother, Furiko, is also a Shimotsuki. Wado Ichimonji points out that Tashigi is offended that a pirate claims to be his owner.

5 Ame no Habakiri

One of Oden's Blades

One Piece Oden Enma Ame no Habakiri

  • Current Owner: Kozuki Momonosuke (Previous)
  • Creator: Kozuki Sukiyaki

Ame no Habakiri is one of Kozuki Oden's signature swords, used in his own variation of the Style-Sword Style. The blade has the color of sky white and gold. It shares its name with the legendary Japanese katana used by the Shinto God, Susanoo, to slay the eight-headed serpent, Yamata No Orochi. This distinction is likely one of the two weapons that destroyed Kaido in his previous dragon form.

This sword was actually made by Kozuki Sukiyaki, Oden's father, who was a master craftsman. After the death of his son, Sukiyaki manages to take over Ame no Habakiri. Although Sukiyaki wants Momonosuke to use his inheritance, he still does not see himself as worthy of using his father's sword.

4 Yes

Demonic Meito

roronoa zoro with enma

  • Current owner: Roronoa Zoro
  • Creator: Shimotsuki Kouzaburou

Enma is Oden's other signature sword, which is more demonic than the heavenly Ame no Habakiri, wearing purple and red colors. Like Wado Ichimonji, it was previously created by Kouzaburou, and is currently owned by his distant relative Zoro. Kouzaburou thought Enma was superior to Wado Ichimonji.

Inheriting Ame no Habakiri, Enma is considered Momonosuke's eldest son, Enma belongs to his younger sister Hiyori. However, Hiyori trades her blade with Zoro in exchange for Shusui.

One Piece: All Zoan Devil Fruit with many models

A look at the Zoan Devil Fruits, especially those with “models” and the different shapes they take.

Like Ame no Habakiri, Enma was one of the two blades that wounded Kaido years ago, causing the distinctive “x” shaped scar on his chest. The blade can release the Arament Haki of its user, earning a dangerous reputation. Zoro's arms tensed until he placed control on the blade, and it seemed to shame the smaller swordsman's body. Zoro not only injures Kaido with Enma again, but also uses it to defeat the King, which is especially notable when one considers that he is of the Lunarian race.

Sukiyaki said that if Zoro could transform Enma into a permanent Black Blade, it could increase his rating, possibly becoming the Supreme Sword. An odd detail about Enma is that it seems to change size to accommodate the more normal Zoro, and the larger Oden. This inconsistency is shared with Ame no Habakiri as well, but is more prominent with Enma, as it is specifically seen that the two swordsmen use different sizes, and are balanced against one of them. .

3 Nidai Kitesu

A cursed sword

Luffy holding Nidai Kitesu

  • Current owner: Kozuki Sukiyaki
  • Creator: Kotetsu

Nidai Kitetsu is a supposedly cursed katana from the Kitetetsu school, which is said to bring terrible death to its owner. Created by Kotetsu, the ancestor of the Kozuki clan. His descendant, Kozuki Sukiyaki, is the current master of the flame. Sandai Kitetsu, one of the other Kitetsu Meito, currently belongs to Zoro, who saw it in Lougetown and chose to try his luck with the blade. It should be noted that the Sandai Kitetsu is currently the only sword Zoro uses that is below Great Grade, as it is only Grade Blade (the lowest grade of Meito, which has an unspecified number.)

Kitetsu Meito seems to have been downgraded since it was recently made. The Nidai Kitetsu is a lower grade than the Shodai Kitetsu, a blade made before Kotetsu was created, but a higher grade than the Sandai Kitetsu, created by Sukiyaki, which is still alive. Sukiyaki lends his blade to Luffy, whose handling of the weapon is severely criticized by Zoro. It should be noted that Luffy threw the sword, instead of directly fighting people. It then returned to Sukiyaki's possession, as Kikunojo found it again in Udon.

2 Shusui

A Black Blade

Corner with one shusui

  • Current owner: Amibiguous, residing in Shimotsuki Ryuma's grave
  • Creator: Unknown

Shusui is the signature sword of Shimotsuki Ryuma, a famous samurai known as the “God of Swords” who was the ancestor of Roronoa Zoro, who was the same descendant. Ryuma transformed the sword into Black Blade, which was fully integrated with Ryuma's Arament Haki, increasing his durability. Ryuma was buried with his sword, but was confiscated with his body when the Gecko Moria ransacked the grave.

It then emerged with its owner's reformed body in Thriller Bark. Zoro fights his zombie ancestor, who eventually gives Zoro his blade. Zoro believed that his other blade would break against him if the fight continued. Zoro became extremely skilled with flames when he was trained by Dracule Mihawk, master of the Yoru, another Black Blade.

One Piece: 5 Great Devil Fruits with Horrible Users

These Devil Fruits are hindered by their users more than any flaws they may have.

Shusui has the strongest connection with the Wano nation. Zoro had the weapon stolen from him several times, or asked to return it by those from the country. Onimaru steals Zoro's blade, and returns it to Ryuma's grave. It was so valuable that Hiyori traded Enma, her own blade, which had previously belonged to her father, to Zoro to secure Shusui's place in the country.

1 The other Sixteen Blades

It is not clear at this time

An empty throne is twenty swords

The status of these Meitos, as well as if they will be included in the story, remains to be seen. Unlike the currently known five great flames, it is at least possible that the other Meito of this class will come from outside the Wano country. That being said, this, along with all other details, is just speculation at this point. What is important is that there are several known Meitos with unclear grades, meaning that there is a possibility that other Great Grade Blades have been discovered but are currently unknown.
