Three bottles of inexpensive Aldi whisky have won major awards at the Spirits International Prestige (SIP) Awards 2024, which were judged by more than 300 spirits lovers.

The award-winning Scotch whiskies are available exclusively at Aldi and won a total of six awards at the highly competitive awards ceremony.

Experts evaluated over 1,300 spirits from various categories and rated them on aroma, taste and finish.

Aldi’s Highland Earl Scotch Whisky received a platinum medal in the Blended Malt Scotch Whisky category, in good company with Highland Black 8YO Scotch Whisky and Highland Green Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, both of which won gold medals.

Paul Handley, whisky connoisseur and purchasing manager at Aldi, said they were thrilled to be able to celebrate their exceptional range with wins against top-class spirits.

“When it comes to what we put on the shelves for our customers, our top priority is to offer the highest quality spirits at the best price,” he said.

“Winning the consumer jury vote in the SIP Awards blind tasting is testament to our promise to offer our customers affordable, high-quality options.”

Mr Handley said the multi-award-winning Highland whisky range can be enjoyed neat, chilled, with ice or in an old-fashioned cocktail.

“For me, there is nothing better than a glass of our Highland Earl Scotch Whisky on a cold winter evening in front of the fire, which brings the essence of Scotland into my home and is the perfect way to end the week,” he said.

“The Highland range is also always a great addition to the whisky cabinet when some friends come over for dessert.”

The three winning bottles also received additional recognition with the “Consumers’ Choice Award”.
